STAND UP PADDLE (SUP)
SUP (stand up paddle) boarding and SUP surfing is an ancient way of navigating in which the rider uses a paddle to move through the water while standing on a surfboard. This discipline has its origin in the traditions of the Polynesian people.
The main difference between the modern idea of surfing and SUP is that the latter doesn’t need waves. SUP can be practiced in the open sea, ports, lakes, rivers or in any body of water.
The health benefits are the combination of stability/torso/posture. This means that without realizing it, the SUP rider will be strengthening the muscles of the torso and improving the natural balance reflexes, noticing great benefits on land after a few sessions.
NOOTKA offers you different guided SUP activities so that you could get started in a simple and safe way. We organize two excursions of different levels and an introduction course. Both the course and the introduction excursion are designed for people without experience in order to achieve a high degree of satisfaction. We use high volume boards for easy learning and excellent results. You’ll be navigating right from the start!
SUP is also an ideal platform for observing the seabed, as it allows us to see it in an incredible way while standing up.
All activities are carried out with Nootka instructors/guides who set the pace of the activity and who are connected at all times via radio.
SUP boarding and surfing is a sport that has become increasingly popular thanks to the ease of learning and because it offers us direct contact with the nature and the marine environment.
Anyone can practice it, both children and adults, but if you want to do it correctly, with confidence and total security, it’s highly recommended to take an introduction course or a guided excursion.
NOOTKA and its instructors will teach you everything you need to know about SUP: characteristics (materials, types of boards, paddles), technique (paddling, balance) and safety (active, passive).
SUP Yoga consists of a yoga class on a stand up paddle board in the sea, in which we combine the two sports in an unbeatable environment; of sea and nature, which will provide us with feelings of well-being and maximum disconnection.
During the SUP Yoga class we will work our muscles, coordination, strength, postural correction and body-mind balance.
We carry out this activity together with the professionals of Victoria Niven Yoga, in order to offer you the best possible experience.
